Job Description: Japanese Transcriber & Linguistic Reviewer (US-Based)

Location: Remote (United States)
Contract: 3-month contract
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

About the Role

AI Solutions is seeking an experienced Japanese Transcriber & Linguistic Reviewer to support audio and video transcription, linguistic quality assurance, and training material development. This role is essential to building and scaling a high-quality, multilingual transcription program that meets rigorous accuracy and consistency standards.

The ideal candidate brings near-native or native fluency in Japanese, strong transcription and review experience, and a passion for linguistic quality at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe Japanese audio and video content with high accuracy, including phonetic detail when required
• Identify and correctly tag non-speech events such as background noise, laughter, interruptions, and overlapping speech
• Review and quality-check transcriptions completed by other linguists to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines
• Provide clear, actionable feedback to transcribers to improve performance and quality
• Develop assessments and training materials to onboard and upskill new transcribers
• Recommend workflow and process improvements to support scalable, consistent output
• Collaborate with US-based project and quality teams to align on priorities, timelines, and quality standards

• Professional experience in Japanese transcription and/or translation
• Near-native or native fluency in Japanese with strong English proficiency
• Excellent attention to detail in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and linguistic nuance
• Experience performing linguistic QA on audio and video transcription content
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy
• Familiarity with colloquial language; medical terminology is a strong plus
• Strong reputation or positive reviews on ProZ (preferred)
• Availability to work 40 hours per week
