Responsibilities • Complete all tasks assigned by the attorney by the due date or proactively document in the case management system.
• Ensure all client matters have the next task entered into the case management system.
• Ensure every client receives a legal update every 21 Days, at a minimum.
• Respond to client and case-related phone calls and emails within 24 business hours.
• Manage the caseload so all cases are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• Prepare and draft family law documents, including petitions, responses, discovery requests/responses, declarations, financial disclosures, and settlement agreements.
• Assist attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, including discovery, pre-trial preparation, trial support, and post-trial procedures.
• File legal documents with family courts (e-filing and physical filing).
• Maintain case files and calendars, ensuring deadlines are tracked and met.
• Manage calendars, deadlines, and appointments related to legal cases.
• Schedule court hearings, mediations, and appointments.
• Draft correspondence to opposing counsel, courts, and clients.
• Perform legal research as needed for case development.
• Ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
• Support attorneys with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications • 3 + years of experience as a paralegal in family law.
• Associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred.
• Excellent client communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence and empathy when dealing with sensitive client matters to fit our work culture.
• Familiarity with local, state, legal terminology, court rules, and federal family law court procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software (e.g., Rocket Matter, Family Law Software, Excel).
• Strong diligence and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage a high-volume caseload, and work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background).
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
Preferred Skills: • Experience with legal billing or time tracking.
• Notary Public (optional but beneficial).
