Director of Finance & Operations (Remote from Illinois)

This role is a hands?on, strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing finance, operations, HR, and legal functions within a high?growth, design?focused technology environment. The Director will work closely with executive leadership to build foundational business systems, streamline operations, and ensure smooth scaling of the organization. Accountabilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain financial models, budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning.
• Oversee accounting, cash flow, bookkeeping, banking relationships, and financial compliance.
• Coordinate investor reporting, fundraising support, and board communications.
• Manage operations including manufacturing timelines, logistics, order fulfillment, and inventory systems.
• Build scalable processes and operational frameworks to support growth and product launches.
• Administer legal and compliance activities, including contracts, corporate governance, equity management, and risk mitigation.
• Support HR functions such as onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits enrollment, hiring processes, and culture development.

Requirements

• 35+ years of experience in finance, operations, or a similar cross?functional leadership role; hardware or consumer product experience is a plus.
• Strong financial acumen with proficiency in modeling, analysis, and scenario planning.
• Proven ability to design and implement operational systems and processes from the ground up.
• Highly organized, proactive, and self?motivated, with strong problem?solving skills.
• Collaborative and ego?free, capable of supporting and elevating cross?functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, able to switch between strategic discussions and detailed execution.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, early?stage environments and driving results independently.
